The 22nd International Workshop on Next Generation Nucleon Decay and Neutrino Detectors (NNN23) will be held in Procida, an island near Naples (Italy) from October 11th to 13th, 2023. The Workshop venue will be the Hotel La Torre Garden. NNN23 is co-hosted by INFN - Sezione di Napoli, University of Naples Federico II, the Department of Physics "E. Pancini" of the University of Naples Federico II, and Vanvitelli University.
Over the last 24 years, the NNN series of workshops has been providing the international community a forum for in-depth discussions on large-scale NNN detectors since its inaugural workshop in 1999 at Stony Brook (NY). The main physics topics of the workshop include searches for proton decay, CP violation in the lepton sector, determination of the neutrino mass hierarchy, and observation of neutrinos from core-collapse supernovae.
Following the successful format of previous NNN workshops, NNN23 will have invited plenary talks giving a broad overview of the topics of the Workshop and selected contributed talks on more specific subjects. A poster session addressing detector R&D, NNN physics, unification theory, and beams for NNN detectors will be organized. Graduate students and postdocs are strongly encouraged to attend the workshop.
Procida
Procida is a small island located in the Bay of Naples in southern Italy. It is situated between the more well-known islands of Ischia and Capri, and is the smallest of the three. Geologically, it was created by the eruption of four volcanoes, now dormant and submerged.
The island has a long and interesting history, having been settled by Greeks, Romans, and other Mediterranean cultures over the centuries. Today, it is a charming mix of old-world charm and modern amenities.
This small Island with bright-colored houses the shade of gumdrops and bustling marinas that dot the pebble-strewn coastline is a magical site to see. With a population of only 10,500 people, it’s also one of Italy’s most enchanting small towns. Its pretty waterfront cafes, candy-coloured homes, narrow alleys and quiet beaches have featured in films such as The Postman and The Talented Mr. Ripley, yet the island remains blissfully untouched. Procida was recently elected Capital of the Italian Culture for 2022.
